grapestompers stands behind each product offered for sale on this web site, and thus we offer this guarantee to our customers:  we will refund or replace any product you buy from us if it does not work as intended or to your satisfaction. Replacement for items that are damaged in transit is covered below.

Security and Privacy
The succinct plain English version for non-lawyers cares deeply about your privacy, and we do our best to ensure a safe online browsing and shopping experience. For obvious reasons, when you purchase something we must communicate information about you with our partners (such as the bank/credit card processor and our shipping partners) in order to conduct routine business online. We may also share your information with our suppliers in case we need help with a question about a product. Aside from that, we promise we will not sell or knowingly share your personal information with anyone unless you give us your permission or it is required by law (such as law enforcement agencies). publishes a free monthly winemaking newsletter, The Stomper. It is distributed via email only to those who specifically request it. We will not send it to you without your permission. The only emails we generally originate to customers are a) notification that we received your order, and b) notification of shipment taking place and tracking numbers, if applicable. From time to time, we may have a question about your order, especially if we need to substitute an item that is out of stock. Of course, should you ask us a winemaking or an order question via email, we will answer it!

This web site does NOT save cookies on your hard drive, but we do use anonymous session variables to keep your shopping truck contents "alive" while you are shopping. Until you check out and give us your shipping and billing information, we have no idea who you are! The prices depicted on this web site are as up to date and accurate as humanly possible. Prices are subject to change without notice and do not include shipping and handling. Our shipping policy is explained more thoroughly below.

Shipping Information
grapestompers has partnered with 4 shipping entities to bring you the best possible shipping rates:

  • UPS Ground
  • FedEx Ground
  • US Postal Service
  • R+L Carriers (for large orders requiring delivery by pallet)

Not only do we work hard to find the lowest possible shipping rate for each order, but we also try to match the most product-friendly carrier based on product mix. Through experience we have learned that some carriers treat fragile items better than others, so it is not uncommon for us to split-ship your order among 2 carriers. For instance, the US Postal Service does a better job transporting long lightweight breakable plastic or glass items (such as siphon tubes, hydrometers, wine thieves, and Auto Siphons) so we usually ship these via Priority Mail - while the heavier items are usually sent via UPS or FedEx.

As you complete your online shopping experience by "checking out" of our Shopping Truck, please indicate whether the shipping address is a residence or not. Carriers such as UPS and FedEx require that we let them know this information.

Due to the nature of how we pack and ship your orders, we cannot estimate shipping while you are using the Shopping Truck and are in the midst of checking out. However, we are more than happy to let you know the shipping charges before we charge your credit card for your order. If you would like us to do this, you must communicate this to us by typing in a short note in the "Comments" box on the last checkout page in the Shopping Truck. Just say something like, "Please let me know the shipping charges before you ship my order".

Once your order is shipped you will receive a confirmation email that gives you all your order and shipping information and costs (including tracking numbers where appropriate) and any applicable taxes. The total amount that has been charged to your credit card is contained in that email. To estimate your delivery times, please refer to our shipping map.

We DO NOT ship via 2nd Day Air for either UPS or FedEx, much less Next Day Air, because our warehouse is located in a remote area (ah, the charm of the sparsely populated NC mountains!) and the carriers cannot support the deadlines imposed by these classes of transit. Trust us, you wouldn't want to pay the rates we would have to charge to air freight a wine kit, even if we were located in a major metropolitan area.

All returns must be approved before shipping the product back to A 15% restocking fee will be applied. When requesting a product return, you must provide the reason for the return in writing (by email or letter) or phone call.

Damaged Goods
Despite all our efforts to the contrary, it is possible that you may receive some damaged boxes or items when your order arrives. If this ever happens to you, don't panic. Rest assured, the damaged item(s) will be replaced as soon as possible once you file a damage claim with the carrier.

Here's what to do if you are the recipient of damaged goods:

  1. If you are present when the driver delivers the shipment, start the claim process for damage right there, on the spot. You'll get a damage resolution at least 3-4 business days faster if you can do this. Go to Step 3.
  2. If you discover the damage after the delivery person has departed, CALL THE DELIVERY COMPANY FIRST (UPS, FedEx) and start the claim process on their end. The reason?
    The delivery companies ignore us if we try to file the claim on our own. In some cases, the carrier will send an adjuster to witness the damage. Protect yourself and take photos of the damage to document the event.

    DO NOT destroy the package or the product. Place the damaged goods in a trash bag (if it's leaking) and hold onto the merchandise, container and all packing materials for 5 working days after notification to the carrier. Often they will send a claims adjuster to inspect the damage.

  3. Call our toll-free number (800) 233-1505 and report the damages that occurred with your shipment. Be prepared to tell us:

    a. your invoice or order number
    b. your tracking number
    c. the carrier's claim number
    d. which article(s) were damaged, and how so
  4. Once we've verified the claims process has started, we'll get a replacement out to you as soon as we can!
